4-H Fair

The St. Clair County 4-H and Youth Fair has been a tradition in my family since I was 9 years old. This year was Breck's first out what we hope is many fairs. He was a very good boy and seemed to really enjoy the animals. He is not afraid of them at all (good or bad? I'm not sure).

Meeting a friendly pig. Breck stuck his finger right up the pig's snout.

Even though he has been in the convertible car seat since May, it was easier to put him back in this one to put him in his Grampy's truck and even to ride on the golf cart late in the day. This photo is when we got home after an afternoon at the fair. Tired baby boy!

Lindsey's family has several bounce houses and a climbing wall that they take to the fair. We were excited to hang with Lindsey (since we are 1.5 hours away we just don't see her enough!!). Breck loved crawling on the mats that the bounce house sits on. I can't wait to see if he plays on them next year!!

Sewing Projects

I made Breck's bedding for his crib, since I was not able to find anything both Nate and I loved. My sister-in-law asked me to make her youngest, Caleb's bedding as well. She and her boys, Andrew and Ethan, picked out the fabric long before Caleb was born. I was much slower with the sewing...but with the impending move on the horizon, I pushed through and was able to finish it. She was very happy with it, and I was glad to be able to do it for her.

A Wedding and the President

Congratulations to our friends Keri and Derrick, who recently tied the knot. It was a beautiful wedding and reception. I was working at All Morgan that weekend, and it was a welcome break from the Detroit Fairgrounds. I was a crab and Nate was upsetting me so we didn't stay very late. Breck's friends Tina and John came over to watch him while we were gone. We are so appreciative to have friends nearby who always seem happy to watch the little munchkin.

I got to see the President at Macomb Community College. There were only 1,000 tickets, so it was a small event, with probably as many security. It goes without saying that President Obama is a fabulous speaker...but seeing him in person was awe inspiring.

8 Months Old - a day late...

Happy Fourth of July!

We started out our morning bright and early - like 6am- with my boss and her husband. We put flags out in Armada, about 550 doors. Jen and Bob then took Nate, Breck and I to breakfast at Papas in Armada - yumm!!

This evening we are going to Nate's sister's house to have dinner and then downtown St. Clair for the fireworks.

We hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday!

Summer Luvin'

Breck got a walker on Friday. He is very excited about it!

Nate was playing with Bert and a baby. Breck loved watching Bert chase it.
He also got some new lion slippers.

On Sunday we walked in the Bay Rama parade for my boss.
Bryant and Ashely walked too! And, as always, it was fun hanging out with them. Breck decided he should rest up before his debut, so he took a little nap while we waited to start.

After, I took Breck swimming in the Bay. He did great and loved the water. He was jumping up and down, kicking his legs, and trying to swim. I am so glad he loves the water!!

Nate and Breck, post swim.

Stats

Heather and Breck when she got home from work on Thursday. He was so happy to see her!!

Breck weighs 18.5 pounds (75 percentile) and is 27.5 inches (95 percentile). He also had to get 4 shots, but only cried for about 2 minutes. He is such a tough boy already, well when he wants to be at least. Also, while we were in DC he decided he was now ready to sit up...I think he will be crawling very soon.

6 Months Old

Our lives are insanely busy right now... I am not so sure why. I guess maybe it is the season? I have been working a lot it seems. I guess that is the difference between working in a vulnerable seat vs. a safe seat.
This past weekend, we went to the barn for a photo shoot. Mary was a little nervous about having Breck so close to Jack, but Misty did a fabulous job holding him (and a little tranq goes a long way). The beautiful pictures were taken by Ken Martin.
Then we went to a fundraisers to support our friends Lindsey, Ashley and Michelle and ta tas everywhere. They are going to do the Breast Cancer 3-Day this summer and as such have to raise mucho dinero. It was nice seeing friends that we don't see enough. On Sunday, Breck and I went to a baby shower for a friend's wife from childhood. Again, it was so wonderful seeing the Ledford family and celebrating the baby on-the-way.
Lessons learned this weekend:
1) While we are soooooo glad Breck is on a schedule, it is VERY difficult on days we stray from the schedule. Difficult on all of us.
2) I need to make a commitment to seeing friends more often. I suck at this and often blame it on how busy I am. However, these people are so important to me and I am going to make sure I see them all more often.

Also Breck turned 6 months old this weekend. He is rolling around like a maniac. I still think he may try to walk before he crawls... I so don't think I am ready for either though!!
